The Washtenaw Health Initiative Opioid Project invites residents and professionals to attend the Washtenaw County Opioid Summit on Monday, October 15, at the Morris Lawrence Building of Washtenaw Community College, 4800 E. Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor, MI.

The summit will bring together addiction professionals, providers, and the community to educate, increase awareness, destigmatize, and cultivate community-driven solutions to opioid misuse and overdose.

While much has been done in Washtenaw County to address the opioid epidemic, the death toll continues to rise. Multiple factors contribute to the problem, including opioid misuse, limited treatment resources, and gaps in knowledge.

Professional Development Program (1:00 – 5:00 p.m.)

Professionals will learn about the current state of opioid prescribing legislation, implementation of this legislation in Michigan, treatment resources, patient communication tools, and Nalaxone use protocols. Learn more and register to attend.

Community Education Program (5:30 – 8:00 p.m.)

Community members will learn about addiction and recovery, hear stories by people who have been directly affected by addiction, and be introduced to different methods for safe storage and use of opioids. Learn more and register to attend.

Food and refreshments will be provided to all participants.

Summit hosts include the Washtenaw Health Initiative, the Community Mental Health Partnership of Southeast Michigan, and Washtenaw Community College.
