SUMMARY:Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Washtenaw Health Initiative’s Medicaid/Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment work group meet monthly to discuss ongoing work. RSVP to attend.\nIn recent years\, the federal government has made substantial changes to the funding and organization of outreach\, education\, and enrollment activities for the Health Insurance Marketplace. These changes have made recent open enrollment periods shorter\, have reduced funding for advertising open enrollment\, and have reduced funding for staff at local organizations that provide enrollment assistance. The Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment Work Group has focused on ensuring that these barriers don’t prevent vulnerable populations in Washtenaw County from applying for the health insurance they require.\nAs the state prepares for Medicaid work requirements\, which go into effect in January 2020\, the Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment work group will ensure that those who qualify for the Healthy Michigan Plan know when and how to take action\, receive assistance with exemption applications\, and have the ongoing support they need to maintain coverage.

SUMMARY:WHI Opioid Project
DESCRIPTION:A volunteer organization\, the Washtenaw County Opioid Project brings concerned community members together with professionals from law enforcement\, public health\, community mental health\, treatment programs\, and hospitals to combat opioid misuse and overdose while meeting the needs of those living with chronic pain. Believing that every person has a part to play in ending the opioid epidemic in Washtenaw County\, the project promotes opportunities for residents and professionals to get involved\, make a difference\, and combat this epidemic. Each month\, members of the Washtenaw County Opioid Project come together to discuss community needs and both plan and coordinate activities designed to address them. SUMMARY:SIM Work Group Meetings
DESCRIPTION:The Livingston and Washtenaw County Community Health Innovation Region\, with funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services\, works to provide patient-centered\, coordinated care to frequent utilizers of emergency department services. The initiative\, which is now serving more than 250 residents in the participating counties\, will continue through January 2020. A number of quantitative and qualitative studies are underway to measure the impact on the participants\, the agencies serving them\, and the community at large.
