About Us

The Washtenaw Health Initiative (WHI) is a voluntary collaboration between more than 200 individual and organizational stakeholders dedicated to improving the health of low-income, uninsured, and under-insured populations across Washtenaw County, Michigan.

Focus Areas

Washtenaw Health Initiative stakeholders have organized their work around five active focus areas: social determinants of healthinsurance coveragemental health and substance usesenior services, and community health needs assessments.

With support from staff members at the Center for Health and Research Transformation, work groups organized around these focus areas meet regularly to identify and share information on medical and social care gaps, coordinate and leverage resources required to address those gaps, generate innovative ideas to improve health and health care, and plan and direct strategic projects and activities.
