SUMMARY:Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Washtenaw Health Initiative’s Medicaid/Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment work group meet monthly to discuss ongoing work. RSVP to attend.\nIn recent years\, the federal government has made substantial changes to the funding and organization of outreach\, education\, and enrollment activities for the Health Insurance Marketplace. These changes have made recent open enrollment periods shorter\, have reduced funding for advertising open enrollment\, and have reduced funding for staff at local organizations that provide enrollment assistance. The Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment Work Group has focused on ensuring that these barriers don’t prevent vulnerable populations in Washtenaw County from applying for the health insurance they require.\nAs the state prepares for Medicaid work requirements\, which go into effect in January 2020\, the Medicaid and Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment work group will ensure that those who qualify for the Healthy Michigan Plan know when and how to take action\, receive assistance with exemption applications\, and have the ongoing support they need to maintain coverage.

SUMMARY:ABLe Change Convening III\, Day 6
DESCRIPTION:At the first ABLe Change convening in November\, 2018\, more than three-dozen participants–from community mental health organizations\, substance use disorder treatment providers\, hospitals\, public health agencies\, housing organizations\, law enforcement agencies\, educational institutions\, and other sectors–worked to develop an overarching goal for long-term work that would increase community well-being\, reduce harm from substance use\, and identify metrics that will be used to evaluate progress. At the second convening in February 2019\, participants designed collective strategies to address barriers to community health and substance use recovery.\nAt the third and final convening\, participants will share community input on the systems change efforts that resonated with stakeholders\, which organizations are interested in championing them\, and which seem problematic. Then participants will collaborate on an action plan\, including what to do\, how to fund it\, and how to see it through.

SUMMARY:Medicaid/Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment

As patients reveal needs\, these health care providers offer referrals to existing services designed to help their patients. In the Livingston/Washtenaw County Community Health Innovation Region\, 54 health care providers are conducting these social determinant of health screenings and connecting patients to community resources.
