Are you or your organization interested in joining the more than 200 stakeholders already dedicated to the WHI’s mission of improving the health of low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations across Washtenaw County? Here are three central ways to get involved:
Attend stakeholder meetings
The WHI’s quarterly stakeholder meetings offer an opportunity for community members to learn about and weigh in on important public health challenges and the strategies local organizations are using to address them. Subscribe to the WHI’s bi-monthly newsletter to receive notifications about upcoming stakeholder meetings or check our event page to find them yourself.
Apply for membership
Dozens of Livingston and Washtenaw County organizations have signed the Washtenaw Health Initiative’s Statement of Commitment, recognizing our shared responsibility to assist those in our community who lack access to high-quality health care and the WHI’s mission to improve health and healthcare for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations. Interested organizations should examine the Statement of Commitment. If you are interested, start by filling out the form linked here! Once you provide us the necessary contact information, WHI staff will reach out to you with further instructions. For new members, we will also be reaching out to schedule time to give you more information about the WHI and its work.
Participate in active work groups
The WHI has a number of active working groups related to community engagement, substance use disorder, and aging services. Interested stakeholders should review the Current Projects page to learn more about each active work group, then contact the group’s staff representatives for more information. While some groups are mostly made up of individuals who work in the targeted area, others are open to any interested party and place special value on lived experience.
