Register now for the Washtenaw County Opioid Summit on September 20

The WHI Opioid Project in partnership with the Washtenaw Recovery Advocacy Project, a program of Home of New Vision, is excited to bring the 2023 Washtenaw Opioid Summit back to an in-person format this year on September 20th.

In a time where opioid settlement funding has begun making its way to states and local communities across the country, we have an opportunity to dive deeper into the workings of our local supports and resources to address substance use related harms in our community and design innovative strategies to better meet the needs of people who use drugs.

“We know that reducing harm from substance use in our communities and providing opportunities for people to live healthier lives involves addressing a full range of both medical and social needs of people who use drugs” says Brianna Dobbs, Director of Community Initiatives at Home of New Vision. Dobbs added, “This event really is an opportunity to build connections among cross-sector stakeholders that is pivotal to providing wrap-around support for people struggling while also investigating data and evidence-based practices needed to support the people we serve.”

The Opioid Project is excited to return to an in-person format to discuss a wide range of substance use related data and topic areas including harm reduction, alternative treatment options, opioid settlement funding, opioid prescribing, and youth prevention and support. “Having been involved in planning past in-person Opioid Summits, it’s refreshing to bring back the face-to-face discussions and networking that helps amplify the messages and impact we hope to share this year” says Matt Hill, the WHI Opioid Project facilitator.

Hosted at Washtenaw Community College’s Morris Lawrence Building, the day will feature morning and afternoon keynote presentations followed by a series of breakout sessions attendees can choose to attend. We will also have community organization tables where you can find out about the great work our partners are doing around the county.

The WHI Opioid Project invites anyone who is interested to attend! To attend the 2023 Opioid Summit, please register here. If you are interested in setting up a table for your organization, there is an option to add a reservation to your summit ticket on the registration process in Eventbrite.
