In May of this year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released “Aging in the United States: A Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging” through the Administration for Community Living (ACL).
“The rapidly growing population of older adults creates an urgent need for thoughtful planning and coordinated action to strengthen the systems that support health and wellbeing as we age,” says Alison Barkoff, who leads the ACL.
To create the report, 16 federal agencies and departments worked together. All stakeholders, including older adults, family caregivers, and the aging services network, are included in the report.
The goal of the national plan is to promote healthy aging and age-friendly communities that value and truly include older adults.
