More years of schooling has long been associated with better health and financial well-being.
That’s why the Washtenaw Health Initiative is excited to share information about the Futures for Frontliners scholarship for Michiganders without college degrees who worked in essential industries during the state COVID-19 shutdown in the spring of 2020 (April 1 – June 30).
The scholarship provides frontline workers–including grocery store and restaurant staff, healthcare and public safety staff, and others–with tuition-free access to community college and, if needed, support completing a high school degree.
But the deadline to apply–December 31 at 11:59 pm–is rapidly approaching.
Read about the eligibility criteria, review the application process, and find print and digital resources that you can share with your clients and colleagues.
Then join the WHI–as well as Washtenaw My Brother’s Keeper, Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan, Washtenaw Community College, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and other organizations–in promoting this scholarship opportunity as you can.
A high school degree, associate’s degree, or skills certificate needn’t be the final destination for those who apply, but with these paid for, the cost of additional schooling will be more manageable.
