Michigan Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine has awarded Dr. Brent Williams, Washtenaw Health Initiative Steering Committee member, with its Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award recognizes faculty members with distinguished achievement through a lifetime of inspired care for patients, service, mentorship, leadership, and scholarship, upholding the highest ideals of the profession while serving as an inspiration to future generations.
Dr. Williams is a professor of internal medicine at Michigan Medicine, where he has served as associate residency director, acting division chief, and fellowship coordinator.
He has served as the director of the U-M Medical School Global Health and Disparities Path of Excellence since its inception in 2010, helping to develop the program that provides students with an opportunity to reduce health disparities in developing countries.
Dr. Williams is also medical director of the U-M Complex Care Management program, where he has developed clinical interventions to better serve vulnerable patients with complex needs.
The WHI celebrates Dr. Williams for this special achievement and recognizes his commitment to service and his special attention to helping vulnerable patient populations close to home and around the world.
