At the first ABLe Change convening in November, 2018, more than three-dozen participants worked to develop an overarching goal for long-term work that would increase community well-being, reduce harm from substance use, and identify metrics that will be used to evaluate progress. At the second convening, participants will design collective strategies to address barriers to community health and substance use recovery.

The Senior Services Work Group formed in late 2016 to identify senior service needs, to determine the cause of those needs, and to begin to address those issues so that Washtenaw County seniors–regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status–can experience healthy aging. RSVP to attend.

The Livingston and Washtenaw County Community Health Innovation Region, with funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, works to provide patient-centered, coordinated care to frequent utilizers of emergency department services. The initiative, which is now serving more than 250 residents in the participating counties, will continue through January 2020. Members of the Washtenaw Health Initiative Officers Committee meet monthly to discuss emerging challenges and priorities for future work. These meetings alternate between locations in Ann Arbor and Howell, Michigan.

The Washtenaw Health Initiative Finance Committee oversees the WHI operations budget and approves financials for WHI projects.

Chaired by Dr. Timothy Florence, medical director for Washtenaw County Community Mental Health, and Nancy Siegrist, director of behavioral health services for St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, the Washtenaw Health Initiative’s Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Work Group includes representatives from dozens of the county’s behavioral health provider organizations.
